I didnt appreciate this review very much, all it did was rip into the cd. I think all their new songs are awesome, and quite different from all their older stuff. People who review cds suck. They should encourage bands, not tear them up 24/7.

We shouldn't rip into critics either.  The people who review CDs are giving their honest opinion and have the right to voice what they think.  Just because there is disagreement with what they say or write doesn't mean the person behind it 'sucks'.  For every album released, keep in mind that there will be dissenting views.  Just ignore the ones you don't like and there won't be any problems.

That's what a reviewers err.. crtics jobs are to do.. is review/critique and critisize... when I'm looking at an album I want to know what is good/bad on it. For instance I've reviewed many concerts before (so I do know how these things go).. but my review for say an FFH show vs a TFK show would be completely different.. however its not just the style of music.. but also what the band is doing.. though it takes a lot of maturity to review things because you have to put your personal likes/dislikes aside for a moment and try to do it non judgemental. For instance.. I still think 40 isn't the best that the Starboys have done.. and would say Beyond the Door is better which never made the new CD... etc etc.

I love Beyond This Door and was sad that it wasn't on the new CD, but then I realized its probably a good thing, because I don't think I'd take changes to it very well. It's almost better immortalized the way it is: perfect.

i really do suck.  thanks for pointing that out.


maybe i should encourage the bands... though, maybe in some strange way... by writing honestly... pointing out things that may be bothersome... not simply placating to the band (or fans of the band)... by balancing good points with bad points... maybe... just maybe... that too, encourages the band... encourages them to put forth their best effort... encourages them to make good music... rather than writing what people want to hear... instead of simply placating to the fans... i don't know... i mean... what do i know... i don't even get paid to write...


i wrote over 1000 words on Starfield... surely there was something you liked...

i didn't mind that review! i actually read the WHOLE thing over the other day, and i think it just gives it a different perspective. it was your opinion and that's what counts! maybe it was a little harsh, but w/e...it's your opinion!

I think when you are a critic, you can't on point out the bad stuff bc that just makes you a flamer. I write lyrics and post them on fanfiction and its REALLY annoying when ppl are like oh ya that sucked and so did that and that, and thats all they say. Thats a flame but a critic is someone who says this is what you were weak in and this is how I personally think you can fix it. Like I liked Tumbling after more than the new album, bc well for us Canadians we didn't see much growth. I however think that most Americans will enjoy it bc it is mostly a pretty strong album. I really am looking forward to when they record their next album, I hope that their are more songs like 'Revolution' and maybe a love song, some rock and roll, and a couple of ballads. I think on this album they totally did way to many ballads. But thats just my opinion. I'm still their #1 Bandaid tho!

Hey.. you are NOT the enemy   You wrote honestly and there's nothing wrong with that!  I'm sure Starfield's albums will get better and better and you'll write great reviews about them in the future.  And just because you don't get paid doesn't mean you should stop your hobby.  I thought it was a good review (as far as reviews go).
