I still think that if you like U2 and you like what U2 did with those songs and they are your favourite.. stick to U2... If you haven't (ever) listened to U2, then ya it's a good CD. I'm sure it's a lovely idea (gee.. its the thought that counts)... but you almost kinda wonder what could have been done to give more.. since I did (since I thought that 50c from each album was like flicking pennies into a tiny glass), I checked it out.. I wish this had been officially released as well:

As a tangible expression of love and in response to the tremendous HIV/AIDS crisis in Africa, Sparrow Records is working with World Vision to adopt and support the Mwakankomba village in Zambia, which has been devastated by HIV/AIDS. The Mwakankomba village is located about 31km east of Lusaka. Zambia with a total of 75 households, and a population of 729 people. The village has a total of 246 children and 55 orphans.

A portion of the proceeds from this album (as noted on the CD tray) goes to help support the Mwakankomba village, and at the time of this writing enough funds have already been contributed to support this village for 3 years. This generous contribution was made possible with the financial support of Berean Christian Stores, Borders, Circuit City, Family Christian Stores, Handleman, and Hastings Entertainment.

Specifically, these funds will provide support for the Mwakankomba village, including core community development and focused on improving basic long-term health needs, and caregivers who will work with the infected, those at risk of infection and those left behind when loved ones die. Most importantly, this support will provide AIDS prevention education for children and mentoring for orphans to encourage them to stay in school and learn how to survive and hopefully thrive one day as adults.

At the center of the community development will be the construction of a youth day care center, where orphans and community children who are not in school will have a place to stay for daily supervision and education. The center will be outfitted with toys, books and other educational material.

To find out more about the HIV/AIDS crisis, the Mwakankamba village and how these funds are being used, please visit www.inthenameofloveCD.com/whyafrica. There are photos and updates posted there.

Despite these efforts, the Mwakankomba village needs your help. There are over 300 orphans and children in the village, and they often do not have enough food to eat, have no access to proper medical care, can not attend school, and face abuse and neglect. Some are growing up without the loving hand of a parent in their lives. In many cases, they must care for sick and dying parents, and care for younger siblings. Through World Vision you can donate additional funds that will go directly so support the Mwakankomba village in Zambia. There are many ways to help. For instance, $15 dollars will provide a blanket for one child in the village. $30 will provide health care and prevention for a child living for one year in the village. $50 will provide care for an orphaned child. To find out more about these opportunities for you to help, visit, www.inthenameofloveCD.com/whyafrica.

Also , a portion of the proceeds going to World Vision are being donated on behalf of Jars of Clay's foundation Blood:Water Mission and will be used to assist The Living Hope Center, an AIDS medical center, in Cape Town, South Africa. For more information on Blood:Water Mission, visit www.bloodwatermission.org/

World Vision has mounted an unprecedented campaign to address the needs of children, families and communities that have been devastated by HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa. They're asking people to join together to care for the millions of orphans, widows and other vulnerable children affected by HIV/AIDS and to support the work of World Vision at a community level to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS. Through this initiative, World Vision is helping to turn the tide against HIV/AIDS around the world.

You can also help increase awareness about the AIDS crisis in Africa in your community. Write your elected officials, including congressmen and senators about the crisis and ask for their support in Washington. You can find information on this at www.inthenameofloveCD.com/whyafrica.
