How do I get a hold of the indie CD's?

hi,

I heard Filled With Your Glory on the radio and was intrigued but dubious, so i searched the file sharing networks for starfield and tried a few of their songs... and a few more.. and a few more.. and absolutely loved them. So i went out and bought the new CD and I like it.. but honestly, I really liked the tracks that I downloaded off of the indie cd's better. They are more raw, I guess. And there are some really good tracks like Everything To Me and Falling To My Knees that aren't on the new CD. Is there any way to get my hands on legitimate, and comlete, copies of the indie albums?

Hi, Jared,

Your best bet is to get in touch with a Christian bookstore here in Canada, as I believe their original CD was sold only here. One such store that has an online ordering option (although I'm sure there are many more) is Christian Publications (www.christian-pub.com). I know for a fact that they did carry the original Indie release, so they are a good resource for you. They may need to order it in for you, so it may be best to email them directly to be sure you're getting the CD you're looking for!

Good luck in your search! I know that quite a number of people prefer their indie release, so you're in good company. By the way, my cat's name is Solomon... just a weird sidenote.

Yeah, once their Sparrow Records release came out, their indy records basically all disappeared.

I got 'Tumbling After' just after it came out, but the only reason I have their first CD is because my Dad (who works in the sound booth at church) recently found it laying around at church and no one claimed it at all, so after awhile, he just brought it home to me because he knew how much I loved them.

(If you can't find the CDs anywhere, see if you can download Beyond This Door or Hate The World Today, if you don't have them already. They're amazing. Oh, and also the original version of Filled With Your Glory, and especially the original Tumbling After, which even the guys themselves told me they liked better than the new.)

one answer... you can't. someone else emailed me a question like this and mentioned their 'indie cd'... which for this winnipeg girl was odd. i still think of all of their cds before the american one.. as normal legitmit non indie cds. ok anyways back to the question... since it was made in canada.. etc etc.. it can only be sold in canada.. i think i answered this somewhere on the forum before... but obviously sparrow didn't want their old previous album out in circulation (that they won the 5 vibes for).. because it would almost be compeition.. although i think each are of equal strength.. hmm maybe sparrow knew this and just wanted the fans to buy their new album, along with new songs.. new look.. new members... etc etc. supposedly the old canadian ones got sent back to cmc (distributing for canada).. but ive heard no word from them when i email them over and over. and their canadian tshirts are for sale.. odd.

Well, I know for a FACT that as of this past June (which was three months after their Sparrow release), the CD WAS available through special order with Christian Publications, because I worked for the company at the time... so, I'd try there before giving up hope completely.

yeah I just got Beyond This Door.. I got I Hate The World Today a while ago and I like the words but I haven't got into it musically.. I think if I listened to it more I would dig it. Ditto for Beyond This Door. Probably the biggest difference to me is the original Filled With Your Glory.. now that I have heard the old version, the radio version is totally ruined for me.. the old version sounds much more genuinely worshipful to me.

Can anybody give me the track listings for the 2 canadian cd's? (I won't call them indie cd's anymore :P) With those I can try to build up a collection of all of them and put them in order and effectively have the cd's illegitimately until I manage to get them legitimately. I wouldn't feel bad about this since I've already put in my $13 for the US CD and as soon as somebody lets me I'll pay up for the other 2 :)

Their first CD has the same tracks as their second, except for three.

Their second was a rerecorded version of the first, plus 3 worship songs. The track list is:
1. From Now On
2. For The Cross
3. Someday
4. Drowning Out The Melody
5. Better is One Day
6. Love of Another Kind
7. Quiet Waters
8. Be Thou My Vision
9. Returning
10. Make Some Room On The Floor
11. Love of Another Kind (B-Side)

Track 11 is also known as 'Another Kind of Love' on their first CD, if memory serves me (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!).

Their third CD was entitled Tumbling After. Tracks:
1. Alive In This Moment
2. Filled With Your Glory
3. Tumbling After
4. Over My Head
5. Can I stay Here Forever
6. Everything To Me
7. Falling to My Knees
8. Hate The World Today
9. Beyond This Door
10. Cry In My Heart

I think I've heard "Love of Another Kind (B-Side)" referred to as "Another Kind of Love" before.. so you're probably right.  It's kind of neat to view the Canadian CDs as (somewhat) rare collectors.  Anyways, about getting the CD through Christian Pub, my friend who works there said that she was one of the last ones who was able to get her hands on a copy of "Tumbling After" but there might be more in stock through CMC so keep checking!

well I went to my christian bookstore today and asked if i could order in their 2nd CD and they arent allowed to sell it anymore! It really sucks bc usually they order in stuff that you want but I cant get it and I really want it. Plus im not allowed to dw music on my compu so there is no way i can hear it :( ... I think the guys should send me a copy bc i ALWAYS pay tons of money for their stuff! I'm gonna caluated how much ive bought from them. ... around $70... I could have got it all for around $55 thats like enough to grab their old CD!

The situation doesn't look good... it's all good and everything that starfield got signed to a big record company, i wish nothing less for them.. but man, I hate big record companies >=(

I have actually managed to get all the tracks from Tumbling After without even realizing it; as well as From Now On, For The Cross, Quiet Waters, and Be Thou My Vision from the previous (self titled?) album. So I am off to a good start. I will put them all in a nice order and try to find the rest of them and pretend like I have the CD's, until someday they become available and I actually do have them :P

Yup. The first and second were self-titled. So basically, 3 out of their 4 cds were self-titled.

Hey,

I've been working at Christian Pub. [the dream job ] since June, and as of right now, I can't special order Tumbling After anymore as it's been discontinued [believe me, I've tried] - if CMC decides to produce some more, I'll let you know

BTW, anyone else got snow? Merry Christmas to those who do, lol.  [I have a weird sense of humor when I'm tired]
