I just wanted to say that I dont like some of the emoticons on here, cuz they're like, anti-Christian, and if you can you should get them ones removed or get the shortcut names changed for ones that have bad names. Anyways, that's just my 2 cents. Not worth much, kinda like the Canadian dollar
Hey Ruth, thanks for your concern over the emoticons available. I agree that some of these should not be accessible, unfortunately, activeboard [the host] does not allow for the moderators to choose their own emoticons or to change any of the shortcut names.
So, I've got 2 options with this. I can either:
Remove the emoticons alltogether, which means no emoticons in the posts whatsoever, you'll have to just make due with =D
or
Keep the emoticons on, and ask everyone to use judgement when inserting emoticons.
So, I want everyone's opinion on this - which would you rather have?
Reply to this post, and I'll make my decision based on the opinions, 'cos this message board is for the fans, and I want to make sure that you all feel comfortable raising concerns over things you don't feel are right, and that you are given the opportunity to shape this message board into a great place for all the Starfield fans.

I agree with Mac on this - I'm sure everybody can use discretion when it comes to putting up appropriate emoticons. I wasn't even aware of some of the negative ones until you brought it up, Ruth. If that's the case, I'm sure most people will use the appropriate ones anyways.
But just in case, Mac, are you also the moderator of this board?
i think i agree with #2. if things do get out of hand the person posting should not be allowed in/blocked/ or whatever. and their comments should be removed or edited. most people on here i'm sure will be smart in what they do and will be appropriate when it comes to what they post.

Ok, so some of them could be offensive to some people. I can see that. Most of them are fine, and well since you can't just get rid of the bad ones, leave 'em.

So I've left this topic open for 5 days, and from the responses I've received, there seems to be a fairly consistent answer to my question, so here's what I'm going to do:
The emoticons will remain available, but I will ask you all to use the good sense of judgement that God has given you when deciding which ones to insert. In a couple months I may ask the question again, depending on if there are any misuses or issues concerning the emoticons used, but from what I've seen so far, I don't think that will be necessary .
