Where are they all? LOTR

So, I thought this was the non-Starfield part of the boards, but I came here and there was hardly anything here, so I was just wondering why.  Hmm...So, I decided to make up another topic to add some variety.

What is your opinion on Lord of the Rings?  There, new topic started.

I am sure you will be shocked to find out that Legolas is NOT my favorite character.  He is somewhat cute, but far from good looking, and plus all he does is state the obvious.  Okay, sorry, that isn't all he does, but he does it a lot.  And how on earth does he manage to keep his hair so perfect?  Unrealistic?  I think so, not that I am bashing him, far from it, I think he is essential to all aspects of the movie.  My favorite charecter is Aragorn.  He is amazing!  And Viggo is a good actor, plays him quite well, I think.

Well he definitely looks better non-Legolas-y.

And is hair is always perfect cause he's an Elf and he's special that way. And he probably takes random baths in non-existant rivers that he somehow manages to find anyway. Either that or he just uses some freaking awesome shampoo. I'll have to find out where he shops...

Actually I just had a revelation. Gimli never really looks that dirty either, does he? We just never really notice cause he's so... um... "not an Elf". Really, his hair's all curly so its not all flowy and shiny like Leggy's, and he's short and always hidden by a helmet, and we pretty much only pay attention to him (in the movies) for comic relief. I'll have to check next time I'm watching.

Maybe he does get dirty, but I know neither of them ever seem to be caked in blood like Aragorn gets... *rubs chin* Maybe its supposed to make him look more heroic or something.

Okay, Aragorn is just awesome.

About the shampoo that Legolas uses; my friend is doing a LOTR newspaper as a project for one of her writing courses, and she had this news article in it.  Legolas had been stealing special minerals from the mines of moria in order to make this special shampoo that makes your hair perfect, all the time.  It was illigal, and he got caught.  He was selling the shampoo to the the public, but he was stoped by the law.

So I guess now we know why his hair is always so perfect, it makes sense now

Ah yes, that sneaky Elven black market. I think that's where Elrond gets all his healing products...

Probably, which is a bit of a disapointment, because that just makes him so less cool.  I love all those pictures of elrond with the shades, eh!  Like, Matrix intwined with Elrond, they are hilarious!

Hey hey you all!

Omgoodness, I love love love Lord of the Rings.  It's kinda funny though because I saw the Return of the King in theatres before I saw the first two and I was SOOOO confused.  But then my friend explained everything and it was all good.

Also, for our youth group's 30-hour-famine activity, we had a LOTR movie marathon.  We watched the first two on DVD and saw the third one in theatres.  I've seen the third one three times.  I guess you could say I'm a tad obsessed, or atleast I used to be.

My favourite character, I would have to say, is Pippin.  He is so funny and he always makes me laugh with his ability to do the wrong thing at the wrong time.  But in the third movie he actually is a hero.  Gotta love him.  lol.

Die-hard LOTR fan here.  I've loved the books since I first read them when I was about eleven...and am just now beginning to appreciate everything that Tolkien put into writing both LOTR and the histories of Middle-Earth.

I haven't read the Sil for ages...I just recently bought a copy from the library (25c!) but haven't had a chance between finals and stuff to get into it.

Do any of you part of LOTR-related messageboards?

No, I am not.  I love it, but I am not obsessed with it.  My friends are though, that is where I get most of my info about it.

It took me over a year to read. It's definitely not a light read, that's for sure.
